Take a tour of our 1895 Victorian house featuring original woodwork, decorative windows, and fixtures. Stop by to see J. B. Grinnell’s Wooten desk, a working Victrola, and so much more! There is no charge for admission, but donations are welcome! We also have copies of Grinnell: Our Prairie Town, Grinnell Stories: African Americans of Early Grinnell, and some stationary for sale.

To schedule a tour, please contact museum staff at 641-236-7827 or grinnellhistoricalmuseum@gmail.com at least three business days in advance. Please note the museum is not accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers. Parking is usually available near the museum on Broad Street.

Drake Community Library

At Drake Community Library, we rotate highlights from the museum’s collection through display cases near the entrance. Make sure to pick up a copy of our History Walk brochure!

Grinnell City Hall
520 4th Avenue

Here, you can view Spaulding buggies and a Spaulding car chassis that were both manufactured in the building connected to City Hall. An exhibit dedicated to early aviator Billy Robinson is located on the top floor.

Grinnell Regional Airport
1607 West Street

A display of Billy Robinson artifacts is located in the airport office. A special item on display here is the rotary engine invented by Billy Robinson and Charlie Hink.
